This week we will focus on the amazing journey of the monarch butterfly. We’ll pledge to do our best to help the plight of our winged friends and start our own butterfly gardens. We’ll learn how to identify monarchs, and look at the amazing life-cycle of this dwindling species. We hope to see and identify native Des Moines backyard pollinators. We’ll do our own observations, and make a butterfly life-cycle mobile. We’ll talk about what we can do to protect and encourage the pollinators in our own back yard gardens. We’ll talk about bee keeping and taste some honey from the area. We’ll create some pretty cool garden art and get our science on too!
